JO RANCE
Jo Rance is a contemporary British painter based in Cambridgeshire, England. Working primarily with acrylic on canvas, she creates vibrant, colour led paintings, rooted by her direct observations of the landscapes she has lived in and experienced. Continuously informed by the British landscape throughout the seasons, there’s an organic pull for Jo to document the natural world through her practice.
Known for her distinctive pastel peppered palettes, Jo juxtaposes soft, muted tones with vivid acidic accents to create landscapes that balance observation with imagination. Her roots in woven textile design continue to inform her intuitive approach to colour, composition and surface, resulting in a visual language that is immediately recognisable.
In 2025, Jo was named one of The King’s Foundation’s 35 under 35, recognising individuals shaping the future of traditional arts, sustainability practices and the natural environment. Her paintings celebrate the joy of paying attention, inviting viewers to see familiar landscapes with fresh eyes and rediscover the wonder of the natural world.
