our founder
Founded in 2023 by painter Caroline Robinson, Milieu Studios grew from a desire to create a different kind of gallery — one shaped by an artist’s perspective and built around meaningful relationships.
As a practising artist, Caroline brings a personal understanding of the creative process and the importance of creating an environment in which artists feel supported, represented and able to thrive.

Based in St Ives, Cornwall, MILIEU brings together a contemporary gallery, artist representation and Client advisory. While our roots are firmly here in Cornwall, our outlook is international, connecting artists with collectors, designers and creative communities far beyond our own surroundings.
Our gallery programme presents a changing series of group exhibitions, with new shows opening approximately every five weeks. Each exhibition brings together a considered selection of emerging and mid-career artists, spanning painting, sculpture, ceramics, textiles and other contemporary practices. Alongside our exhibition programme, we work with artists on an ongoing basis, building relationships that support the development of their practices and create opportunities for their work to reach new audiences.
Milieu extends well beyond the gallery itself. Through selected art fairs, international sales, designer partnerships and collaborations with creative businesses, we continue to introduce our artists to new audiences and explore different ways of bringing original art into people’s lives. We are equally committed to the relationships behind this work, with an emphasis on transparent representation, fair practice and creating supportive, professionally run environments in which artists can flourish.
Our art advisory works with both private and commercial clients, offering a considered approach to discovering, selecting and living with art. From sourcing a single work for a home to developing collections and working alongside interior designers and architects on wider projects, we bring together an understanding of artistic practice with a thoughtful approach to space, character and individuality. whilst looking to create a space for our clients to enjoy art, living authentically, and feeling confident in your own art collecting stories.
And then there is Our Milieu. The community that sits around everything we do: artists, collectors, designers, friends and curious minds. We believe that art is as much about the conversations, connections and experiences it creates as the objects themselves. Whether visiting the gallery in St Ives, discovering an artist online, meeting us at an art fair or working with us on a project, there are many ways to become part of Milieu.
